Digital media industry remains healthy

News Article Published: Tuesday, 20 May 2008   Category: Graduate recruitment | Reports

The UK's digital media industry remains confident over employment opportunities, according to a recent survey.

Research carried out by London-based digital media network Chinwag suggests 72 per cent of the digital media professionals are not overly concerned about current market conditions, reports Onrec.com.

Such figures may provide reassurance for media undergraduates set to leave university in the summer.

Chinwag managing director Sam Michel said the results showed the digital sector is confident despite a "stream of negative stories about the economy".

He added that this appeared to buck the trend, although optimism levels for six months time were slightly down on last year.

The "Digital Pulse" survey is a new Chinwag initiative designed to measure the health of the digital media, which suffered greatly through the dot.com crash between 2000 and 2002.

Trillions of dollars were wiped off the US stock market values, and many jobs in the new media were lost as a result of the crash which came about through overly-optimistic business practises.
