Graduate Jobs in Banking

Graduate opportunities in Banking cover a wide range of employers engaged in a variety of different activities from retail banking on the high street to investment banking in the City and everything in-between. There are graduate jobs in corporate banking, personal banking, mortgage advising and independent financial advice.

Banks tend to be very large institutions and offer massive scope for progression.  As well as banking services, they all have large numbers of staff involved in product development, marketing, IT and support services, based in regional or head offices.

The last few years have seen a well documented slump in the banking industry’s reputation and ability to recruit but the signs are far more positive for 2011.  The Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) Graduate Recruitment Survey 2010 – Summer Review (July 2010) revealed that 14.6% of all graduate jobs offered by AGR members were in banking and financial services.

The AGR’s research also shows that there has been a 72% increase in graduate level banking and financial services jobs between 2009 and 2010, moving it up from the fifth highest recruiting sector to the second. The average graduate starting salary in the banking sector in 2010 is £28,500.
