West Midlands gets graduate training scheme
Friday, 14 August 2009
University leavers in the West Midlands currently looking to improve their graduate job prospects could take advantage of a new government-funded training scheme.
Pilots of the scheme taking place in the area will see small and medium enterprised (SMEs) linked up with job hunters in one-on-one and group sessions, organised by Graduate Works and Advantage West Midlands.
According to TJ Online, the initiatives will give graduates the skills they need to be competitive in the current jobs market, while also reducing brain drain from the area to cities such as London.
Will Jodrell, sales and marketing director of Graduate Works, told the news provider: "This is the first initiative of its kind in the country to specifically support SMEs that may not have the capacity to provide in-house training but who still have a wealth of extremely talented graduates to develop."
Graduates looking for an ethical job in the Scunthorpe area may be interested to know that AbitibiBowater Recycling Europe has recently announced new positions.
