Waitrose graduate jobs scheme 'stands out'
Tuesday, 16 September 2008
Waitrose offers an excellent graduate jobs scheme, according to one trainee.
Speaking to the Independent, Julia FitzRoy explains that she applied for the placement in order to kick start her career in retail.
"I looked at the Waitrose graduate scheme online and thought the company stood out in terms of career development and how much they invest in you as an individual," she says.
The biggest challenge has been managing people who have much more experience than her, she added.
Ms FitzRoy embarked on her career in retail after studying the history of art, something which she admits is not the obvious way to enter the sector.
However, the training programme has given her a "great" understanding of how retail stores operate, she states.
Yesterday, the Independent reported that Sainsbury's, Marks and Spencer, Pentland, Boots and the Home Retail Group all offer worthwhile graduate training programmes.
According to the news provider, such schemes help boost people's careers in the sector.
