Using internet to find graduate jobs is 'incredibly simple'

University leavers should not underestimate the value of using online resources in the quest to find graduate opportunities, it was suggested today (December 8th).

A new article published by sundaymercury.net conceded that competition is fierce at present, with a reported 70 applicants for every graduate job.

However, the report explained that the rise of the internet represents a major boost for job hunters as it makes the task of finding openings "incredibly simple".

"You can either do a broad search for everything in your area if you are not looking for any sector in particular, or indeed all listings for a specific sector across the UK," read one section of the article.

"Using the advanced search function you can narrow the findings down further, including using a salary calculator."

The report also noted that online recruitment websites are particularly helpful as they include "literally tens of thousands" of job listings for potential candidates to explore.

Meanwhile, accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers claimed recently that 28 per cent of UK businesses expect to increase their workforce during 2011.
