Use UC to your advantage, employers are told

Published: Monday, 21 June 2010   Category: Employer News

Employers should adopt a solid unified communications (UC) strategy as it will allow them to recruit from a wider geographical area, it has been suggested.

In news which may interest graduates, a recent report published by Frost and Sullivan revealed that the web conferencing market increased by 19.3 per cent in Europe during 2009.

Hugo Harber, director of convergence and network strategy at IT solutions firm Star, said this trend should allow companies to boost productivity.

"By providing integrated conferencing and collaboration tools you can reduce the need to travel," he said.

"It allows businesses to recruit outside their immediate area, for example, [as] an M25-based company can recruit from cheaper areas."

Mr Harber added that businesses can also use UC to save money, as the average cost per annum, per desk in terms of rent, utilities, hardware and management is about £5,000.

Star offers solutions in a range of areas, such as connectivity, networking, hosting, security, emails, voice and business broadband.ADNFCR-1068-ID-19849632-ADNFCR
