UK retailers 'offer access to graduate jobs'
Monday, 15 September 2008
People looking for a career in retail should consider applying for graduate jobs at one of the UK's top chains, according to one newspaper.
Sainsbury's, Marks and Spencer, Pentland, Boots and the Home Retail Group all offer trainee programmes aimed at those looking to work in the sector, reports the Independent.
According to the news provider, all the graduate schemes are aimed at helping people develop their skills, as well as their businesses contacts.
Speaking to the newspaper, Suzanne O'Neill, communications project manager for Sainsbury's, explained how her first graduate job with the firm has helped boost her career.
"I was able to build relationships across the business and realise my strengths and weaknesses. I also attended various courses to challenge myself and build my self-awareness," she stated.
Recently, careers adviser Caroline Haydon told the Independent that people who have not done as well in their studies as they hoped should try and show prospective employers they are worth more.
