The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has called upon the government to pave the way for a more environmentally friendly UK employment sector.
A new pamphlet titled A Green and Fair Culture was launched this morning by the union body, urging ministers to work more closely with employers on the green agenda.
TUC general secretary Brendan Barber said countries such as Germany and Denmark were showing there was money to be made "in the green economy".
He stated: "Now is the time to start implementing the policies which could allow a UKgreen sector to give a much needed boost to our slowing economy.
Meanwhile, a TUC publication titled Go Green at Work advises people on how to assess the environmental performance of their workplace.
It also offers suggestions on how to further investment in energy saving and renewable technology in the workplace.
According to the latest KPMG-commisioned survey of the Australian ICT industry, firms down under are willing to pay a premium of eight per cent for green technologies, reports iTWire.
