Top studying tips for 2012

Published: Monday, 20 February 2012   Category:

Whether you are working towards a BA or an MA, everyone has different studying techniques. The main thing to do is make yourself as comfortable and well prepared as possible, this is likely to help with your motivation to ‘hit the books.’

Below, we have looked at some of the most important things you can do to ensure you reach your optimum studying potential. None of them are rocket science, it really is a case of following basic rules and remembering the perspiration equals inspiration.....or something along those lines!

Manage your time: By spending less time working on the aspects of a course that are easier to comprehend, you can give yourself more time to focus on the tougher parts of any subject. This way you can ensure your time is divided sensibly and you can give yourself the best chance of achieving the highest grade possible.

Environment is key: Whether it is the library or your student bedroom, it is imperative to find an environment in which you are comfortable and can flourish.

Sometimes university libraries can be noisy places that do not encourage studying as much as they should. Do some exploring in the first weeks of your course and find a comfortable place to do your best work.

Keep to a schedule: If you leave everything until the last minute regardless of whether it is for exams or an essay, it can create a much pressurised situation. By drawing up a studying schedule at the start of term you can keep track of what you need to do and what it has to be finished by.

Do you have trouble concentrating when you study? Do you think these tips could help you to reach your optimum level and hopefully achieve a graduate position?
