PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), the company which recently came first in the Times Top 100 Graduate Employer Awards for accountancy and finance, has said that it will continue to provide graduate jobs.
It has already taken on 125 graduates this year and plans to employ another 800 before the end of 2009.
PwC's recent spring graduate jobs offering saw a third of its new employees come from arts, humanities, language, social sciences and engineering degrees and a third were over 25 years old.
The professional services firm is also encouraging graduates to think outside of London and is offering jobs in the north-west and south-west as well as the capital.
Sonja Stockton, head of student recruitment at PwC, said: "For PwC, it's business as usual in terms of graduate recruitment. Competition for places is fierce and we've seen a 38 per cent increase to date this year in applications to our full time programme, and 30 per cent increase to our internship programme."
PwC recently announced that one in ten (38,000) of those looking for graduate accounting jobs had looked at its online careers advice 'clinic' in the six months prior to April.
