Top airline comes on-board

Virgin Atlantic Airways has become the 800th member of recruitment industry mouthpiece the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR).

AGR, whose membership consists of both private and public sector organisations of various sizes, is happy to reach the milestone in the year it celebrates its 40th birthday.

Chief executive Carl Gilleard said the association was pleased to welcome "such an exciting and dynamic employer" as its newest member.

Virgin Atlantic spokesperson Simon Mason said the airline prides itself on providing an enjoyable workplace environment, and graduates quickly settle upon joining the firm.

He added: "AGR membership will help us to keep abreast of the very latest trends in graduate recruitment."

The move comes as good news for graduates and university students keen to see top firms adopting a progressive approach towards their annual recruitment.

The latest AGR survey, released in 2007, predicted no slowdown in the graduate recruitment market during 2008.
