Those worrying about the lack of graduate jobs available in the current climate have been offered some tips by an industry expert.
Writing for MSN Money, Emma-Lou Montgomery said that computer science graduates could take up a more exciting line of work with MI5, which is looking for IT security specialists to help in its terrorism prevention work.
If that seems too daring, applying to smaller companies could yield some employment opportunities as most of the negative media reports relating to graduate jobs are based on larger firms.
She added: "While the salary will definitely not be the sort of sum you were after initially and there won't be a week of induction waffle ... there will be paid employment and a chance to carve out your own career path."
Top graduate job provider PricewaterhouseCoopers recently said that university leavers wishing to find employment this year must not be fussy about location.
