Thousands of jobs created last month

Published: Thursday, 20 December 2007   Category: Graduate Job sector Reports

In November this year, 58,000 job positions were created, according to the Job Creation Index (JCI), which could be good news for students looking for graduate jobs.

The research, which is put together by Adecco and Mandis, shows that the number of employment opportunities was 54 per cent higher than the same time last year.

Philip Arnold, director of Mandis, said: "This month's increase of 54 per cent builds upon the 31 per cent rise in October 2007, highlighting the positive increase in job creation despite the current concerns with the credit crunch."

He added that sectors such as printing and paper "registered an increase of over 3,700 per cent".

The health and social care sector also had impressive figures in the survey, mainly due to a £1 billion scheme to build the largest biomedical campus in Europe.

Mandis provides powerful business intelligence to companies, including several in the recruitment sector.
