There is 'an abundance' of vacancies in engineering

Published: Thursday, 14 April 2011   Category: Science, Engineering and IT

The engineering industry is "well-placed" to be at the forefront of the UK's economic recovery, according to Roevin Engineering.

This positive news for university-leavers looking for graduate engineer jobs came as the manufacturing recruitment firm announced that the construction and renewables sectors are reporting increased demand

Mark Tully, head of the Roevin Engineering, said that there is "an abundance" of graduate opportunities available for prospective engineers. He singled out two particular divisions of the wider sector for particular optimism.

"The increasing number of vacancies in the construction industry will be of particular benefit to civil engineers, but will also affect the wider industry in a positive manner," he said.

"The strengthening drive for greener energy is generating significant demand for UK engineers in the utility and renewable sectors."

Engineering was one of the strongest sectors in the economy in March, delivering a 26 per cent increase in positions, according to Monster's Employment Index
