Graduate Job sector Reports
A recruitment service has defied the recent slew of depressing headlines regarding graduate jobs by saying that, despite low confidence, university leavers can still find degree-level employment.
Grad Central believes that the "recession-fuelled" gloomy newspaper articles in the past few months have affected the mindset of potential graduate job candidates, who have a pessimistic outlook on the market, according to the Shropshire Star.
In a survey of 1,000 students by the graduate recruiter, the majority said that they feared the recession has sullied their chances of finding any employment when they leave university.
Lucy Cheatham, of Grad Central, wrote in the newspaper: "With 20,000 new graduates set to enter the West Midlands jobs market this summer, my advice to any final year student is to start looking now."
Graduate recruitment careers management expert Chris Morall recently told those looking for graduate jobs to "keep positive" as there are still employers looking for degree-level candidates.
