Telecoms boom could provide jobs

IT graduates could find themselves employment within the telecoms sector, which is witnessing a boom in jobs due to interest in next-generation networks.
Recruiter has spoken to industry experts who have seen growth in demand for IT staff in the telecoms sector due to an increase in automated systems, particularly billing systems.
Matthew Bishop, manager of the telecoms and networks division of recruiter Blue Pelican Group has said that in the past three years his contracts with telecoms companies have increased three-fold.
"We work within the next-generation networks domain, this is proving to be an area of increasing interest at the moment," he told the publication.
Rebecca George, chair of the British Computer Society's Women's Forum, has also stated that a number of jobs are available within the IT sector.
She stated that positions which tend to be available include support or system maintenance roles, software design or development and specific IT management jobs.
