Published: Friday, 05 November 2010   Category: Science, Engineering and IT

Forty young Britons have landed graduate engineering jobs after completing their studies with a prominent steel firm.

Tata Steel has already shown its commitment to securing the best new talent by taking on 60 new apprentices at its facilities in Scunthorpe in September.

However, a further group are now celebrating after securing their various qualifications, with the help of some on-the-job experience with the company.

In an interview with the Scunthorpe Telegraph, Sean Lyons, the Scunthorpe site director, expressed his delight at witnessing Tata Steel's third annual graduation ceremony.

"These apprentices represent the future of our company and it's great when we get the opportunity to celebrate and share in their success," he told the news provider.

"They've all worked very hard to achieve these qualifications. The graduation is our way to show them how much we value their hard work, commitment and expertise."

Tata Steel, which is headquartered in Mumbai, India, is the world's seventh-largest steel company and boasts an annual crude steel capacity of 31 million tonnes.
