Those looking for graduate jobs in the recession-hit competitive market are most likely to find jobs in the utilities, technology and public sectors, according to a new survey.
Carried out by people assessment firm Talent Q, the report shows that 75 per cent of companies in the utilities sector are looking to increase investment in graduate talent, with 56 per cent of IT firms and 47 per cent of public sector companies doing the same.
According to Onrec.com, the survey advised those looking to find graduate jobs to avoid the financial services industry as most forms in this sector are looking to develop existing staff.
Dr Alan Bourne, director of Talent Q, said: "Savvy graduate job seekers should take advantage of the current climate by pursuing roles in the relatively more buoyant industry sectors we have identified and by making sure they display the characteristics employers are looking for."
A recent report by the London School of Economics said that government investment in digital infrastructure could provide employment for those looking for an IT job, including graduates.
