Students being offered work experience to aid graduate jobs hunt

Published: Thursday, 07 October 2010   Category: Work Experience

A web hosting provider is giving students the chance to participate in graduate work experience while they complete their degrees, it has been confirmed.

Webfusion is extending opportunities to young Britons who are keen to learn more about online marketing and social media, which form a core part of its business.

Chief executive Thomas Vollrath explained that the move is designed to help university leavers get ahead of the competition for jobs when they graduate.

"Recruiters want experience, which can pose a problem for many graduates who are fresh out of university but have little or no experience of a working environment," he said.

"We see it as vital that young talent who we hope will become tomorrow's business leaders receive the opportunity to gain the experience and skills needed to take them forward towards a successful career."

Mr Vollrath added that the scheme is a two-way street as the company can benefit from the "enthusiasm, talent and fresh ideas" that the undergraduates bring to the table.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth News revealed last month that the University of Portsmouth recently placed 90 of its graduates in positions with local businesses.
