Somerset county council has the largest graduate training scheme of any local authority, it has been claimed.
The council has appointed 21 people to its graduate jobs scheme this year, a figure it states is the highest in the land, reports the Yeovil Express.
Speaking to the newspaper, Councillor Sam Crabb, portfolio holder for strategic resources and finance, stated that the scheme is aimed at ensuring the authority has access to staff of the highest calibre.
He said: "Through the scheme we are able to select the most suitable candidates for positions throughout Somerset county council."
This will allow the authority to continue to deliver excellent services to residents, he added.
Recently, staff trainer Lisa Titcomb and retail director Liz Bennett of Lush, stated that those looking for graduate jobs would do well to brush up on their leadership skills.
According to the pair, such abilities put people at an advantage.
