Softcat recruits begin graduate schemes at new Moorgate office

A prominent value-added reseller officially opened its London office yesterday (October 18th), with 15 young Britons starting their graduate jobs with the firm.

Softcat has been training the university leavers for the past three weeks at its headquarters in Marlow to prepare them for their roles at the new Moorgate site.

The firm, which won the Sunday Times' Best Small Company to Work For award this year, has operated a significant recruitment drive for the top graduates in 2010.

Managing director Martin Hellawell revealed that Softcat will also be looking to fill a further 100 positions over the next three years in sales, account management and support.

"We are quite unusual at Softcat because everyone is homegrown. There are probably four or five people in the entire company that have worked at another reseller," he told CRN.

"The rest have joined us fresh out of university or have maybe worked in another job in adjacent industries. Our biggest hurdle to growth is getting as many people as we can on board."

Softcat, which was founded in 1993, is also planning to open seven more regional offices in the future in areas such as Bristol, Cardiff and Edinburgh.
