The construction firm Skanska has revealed that it has plans to grow over the next few years and claimed that the move will benefit those looking for graduate jobs.

According to TargetJobs, Skanska is set to open a new retail housing division in the UK as part of its 2011-2015 target to expand its construction, residential development, commercial property development and infrastructure development operations.

The company will focus on growth in London and the south-east, while its graduate recruitment programme has been maintained and will continue until at least 2012.

Johan Karlström, president and CEO of Skanska, said that the company is well-positioned to increase its operations, having "survived the financial crisis" and being "strongly equipped financially".

A recent study by accountancy giant PricewaterhouseCoopers revealed that more than one in four UK firms expect to expand their workforce next year, which could be good news for graduate job hunters.
