Scottish Liberal Democrats promise green jobs

Published: Tuesday, 26 April 2011   Category: All Graduate job news

The leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats has said the party is "committed" to producing more green jobs.

Graduate opportunities in the sustainable sector will be created in Scotland if Lib Dem promises are to be believed.

Tavish Scott, the leader of the Scottish party, told the Perthshire Advertiser that the country has to be at the 'forefront' of any green jobs pushes.

"Scotland has the research base and the natural resources to be at the forefront of the renewable energy sector as it develops and our companies are world leaders in their field," he said.

He said the Liberal Democrats would hit carbon reduction targets and stimulate growth in the renewable goods sector.

Kevin Wellman, the operations director at the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering recently stated it is "vital" that the government continues to show commitment to green schemes, as this will stimulate jobs.
