Sainsbury's to provide graduate jobs in East Midlands
Tuesday, 19 May 2009
Those looking for graduate jobs in the East Midlands may be interested in the 150 retail positions that are expected to be created when supermarket giant Sainsbury's opens its new store in South Derbyshire.
District councillors have given the go-ahead for the transformation of a current Sainsbury's branch in Swadlincote into a 32,300-square foot flagship superstore for the company.
Up to 150 full and part-time jobs will be created as well as a multitude of facilities for the local area, and Sainsbury's is waiting for a final decision on the scheme.
Martyn Ford, committee vice-chairman for South Derbyshire District Council, told the Burton Mail: "I think this is an exciting scheme. This is a national retailer prepared to invest in South Derbyshire and Swadlincote and will lead to improvements in the town."
Sainsbury's recently announced it will create another 100 positions when its new Andersonstown branch opens in Northern Ireland, which may be of interest to those looking for graduate jobs in the area.
