Life after graduation
New research has found that highly-efficient, multi-skilled secretaries are driving today's successful offices.
The new study by jobs website Gumtree has discovered that the traditional typist has evolved into a high-skilled personal assistant who often has more qualifications than the boss and can earn in the region of £100,000 a year.
According to the study, the role of the 21st century secretary shows she is in possession of an impressive CV which often incorporates language skills and a postgraduate degree.
Commenting on the findings, Sophy Silver of Gumtree said: "It is clear from our research that the position of the PA is becoming a highly coveted position.
"On top of high salaries, almost half of our respondents receive perks such as regular trips abroad and even hair and beauty allowances."
Cora Lydon, editor of Executive PA magazine, added "People's perceptions may not have changed but the fact is that the role of PA has never been better qualified, and that's reflected in their salaries."
