The chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has said that today's (February 17th) Office for National Statistics (ONS) unemployment figures represent "good news" for graduate job hunters.
Kevin Green was talking in response to the ONS figures which show a 3,000 person reduction in the number of individuals out of work in the UK, which now brings the figure to just 2.46 million.
He said: "This is good news and supports the feedback we've had from members who have reported an increase in recruitment activity over recent months.
"Improving employer confidence is resulting in a more positive outlook on hiring intentions over the coming year, but the UK jobs market remains fragile."
Earlier this week the REC published its JobsOutlook survey which confirmed the trend of increasing employer confidence, with only two per cent of surveyed businesses saying they expect to make additional cutbacks, making it the lowest number since the monthly survey began.
