Reading University HR students 'being prepared for finding graduate opportunities'

Published: Monday, 08 November 2010   Category: All Graduate job news

Students at one higher education institution are receiving special advice ahead of their bid to secure a graduate job, it has been confirmed.

The University of Reading's Henley Business School has teamed up with GCS Recruitment Specialists to offer an insight into the skills which appeal to employers.

As part of the teaching case study, the HR undergraduates are given a number of written and video resources, while also being asked to respond to certain real-life staff retention issues faced by GCS.

Dr Zella King, who came up with the idea for the partnership, explained that it will hold the students in good stead when they look for full-time roles after graduating.

"Our HR course covers the topic of recruitment and, with the students about to go out into a very difficult labour market, this case study provides a brilliant way to ensure they are better informed and better equipped to know what companies are looking for," she told onrec.com.

Meanwhile, design firm _space group revealed last week that it has filled twice as many graduate vacancies as usual so far this year.
