PWC to add 800 jobs on top of graduate placement recruitment

Published: Monday, 06 September 2010   Category: Banking and Finance

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) intends to create almost 1,000 new jobs over the course of the next 12 months, graduate placement hunters have been informed.

The company has just posted a 5.6 per cent decline in profits for the year to June 2010 and also revealed last Thursday (September 1st) that it is set to cut 3,500 jobs.

However, PWC UK chairman Ian Powell announced that it will be looking to fill 800 new positions in the coming year, in addition to its plans to recruit 1,200 graduates.

"We are under no illusion that there remain challenges ahead," he said.

"But in the next twelve months we intend to create 800 new jobs across our businesses to enhance the services and value we offer to our clients."

Mr Powell also revealed that PWC recruited 1,750 people in the 12-month period covered by the latest financial results.

PWC is one of the 'big four' accountancy firms, along with Deloitte Touche, KPMG and Ernst & Young.
