Leading financial services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has announced that the spring intake for the firm's graduate scheme has been the highest ever this year.
In all, the firm employed 209 university-leavers in graduate roles this month (April), but the firm received 30 applications for every one of the graduate vacancies it advertised.
Ian Powell, a senior partner and the chairman of PwC, said that the recovery of the UK economy is partly to thank for the bumper graduates intake.
"The recovery is bringing fresh opportunities and the business is growing, so maintaining and increasing the investment and value we have placed in our graduate recruitment numbers has massively paid off," he said.
The financial services firm has been voted top graduate employer by High Fliers research company for the last eight years.
Yesterday (April 27th), the Office of National Statistics revealed that the UK economy grew by 0.5 per cent in the first three months of 2011.
