PwC named one of the top employers of women

Published: Monday, 18 April 2011   Category: Banking and Finance

Financial services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers has long been known as a company which offers many graduate opportunities, now it has been named the one of the best in the country for employing women.

The financial company, widely known as PwC, appeared on the Top 50 Employers for Women list, published recently by workplace gender equality campaigner Opportunity Now.

Sarah Churchman, PwC's head of diversity and engagement, said the company has been working to give female employees confidence.

"Women feel supported and develop their networks and skills and they see visible role models; with this comes confidence to ask for what they want, share their ideas and to aspire to where they want to go," she said.

Women looking for graduate vacancies may wish to apply at PwC because not only did it appear on the equality campaigner's list, but it was also the company with the largest number of graduate vacancies last year.

The financial services firm employs 16,000 staff around the United Kingdom. Last year, PwC employed around 1,000 university-leavers.
