PwC and Deloitte fill graduate vacancies in Newcastle

Two major accountancy firms have welcomed some new recruits to their graduate schemes in the north-east of England, it emerged yesterday (October 6th).

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has appointed 20 graduates and one HEADstart placement, while Deloitte has taken on 12 graduates, with all 33 working at the firms' Newcastle offices.

The majority of the graduates are aiming to complete the Association of Chartered Accountants qualification, according to a report by nebusiness.co.uk.

Paul Woolston, a senior partner for PwC in Newcastle, explained that his company is determined to continue to snap up the brightest young talent in the area.

"PwC believes in fostering and retaining the region's graduates," he said.

"Along with supporting the local community, this will help to further strengthen our practice and our local expertise, which in turn benefits our clients."

Deloitte is the world's largest professional services firm in the world, with PwC coming in at number two on the list.
