Life after graduation
Graduates may be interested to learn that salaries for senior purchasing professionals have surged upward and are now well ahead of the national average.
The Salaries and Reward Survey from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) and Croner Reward revealed that purchasing continually outstrips salaries, especially at senior levels, across sectors including IT, finance, HR and marketing and sales.
Purchasing heads of function can earn an average salary of around £63,000, with all other functions ranging from £51,149 (HR) to £55,000 (finance) at senior level, according to the study
Furthermore, purchasing salaries are still ahead of the national average even at middle ranking levels.
Mike Campbell, director of professional development services at CIPS, said: "The news for the purchasing professional is all positive - once again an upward trend in procurement remuneration is further evidence of the widespread recognition of the important contribution that professional procurement makes to organisations' success."
