PR firm using 'cognitive tests'
Monday, 08 December 2008
Cognitive testing is helping one Midlands-based marketing and communications agency make the correct recruitment decisions, it has been reported.
The Birmingham Post reports how Cognition PR of Leamington Spa has successfully added four capable staff through the use of such testing.
Dr Peter Hughes, the firm's managing partner, says he assumes a certain level of professional skills among interviewees and instead prefers to focus on matters relating to personality and attitude.
Commenting on the technique, he states: "The effect is often dramatic and has led successful and unsuccessful candidates to understand their personal priorities and career choices in new ways."
Dr Hughes adds that he seeks potential employees who are flexible in their behaviour and able to adapt to different environments.
Last month, research conducted by T-Mobile indicated that 51 per cent of employers look for job candidates who are comfortable with mobile technology and can work effectively from any location.
