Graduate job hunters could take up a part-time position if they are struggling to secure full-time employment, an expert has said.
Felix Wetzel, a recruitment specialist, was reacting to Office for National Statistics data which showed that UK companies are still reluctant to offer full-time places to applicants, including graduates.
However, the part-time positions available would be beneficial to university leavers having trouble landing a graduate job as they keep skills up to date and maintain a working routine, Mr Wetzel said.
"Part-time work can also provide you with the time to attend courses, gain qualifications or perhaps do voluntary work in a different field. This can be beneficial in helping someone back into full time employment," he added.
Some 77 temporary graduate jobs in a range of sectors, including leisure and social care, have been created in the Clackmannanshire region of Scotland thanks to government funding, the BBC recently reported.
