All Graduate job news
Graduate job hunters may be pleased to hear that employment opportunities continue to increase, with a survey revealing that growth in permanent positions has risen at its fastest rate in three years.
Recruitment industry professional body the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) carried out the poll in conjunction with KPMG and noted that more staff were being appointed for the fifth month in a row.
The need for temporary and contract staff increased, with average salaries also on the up.
However, Kevin Green, the REC's chief executive, noted that of all age groups, those on the look-out for graduate jobs are likely to be among those facing the toughest challenge to find employment.
He said: "As we head into 2010, the recovery of the UK jobs market is accelerating. Employer confidence is increasing and vacancies are on the up.
"Despite the increase in demand for both temporary and permanent staff, the jobs market will remain extremely competitive, particularly for younger candidates."
Parents were recently encouraged by an 18-page guide from the government to give university leavers support on their graduate job hunt rather than simply nag them to search for employment.
