Old malting house investment to create 500 new jobs

People looking for graduate vacancies will be pleased to hear that 500 jobs are set to be created in a Lincolnshire town, after it was revealed that there would be investment in disused buildings

Councillors announced today (April 13th) that they are to invest £55 million in the disused Bass Maltings site in Sleaford, reports the Lincolnshire Echo.

This particular investment will create 500 jobs while a more expansive scheme is set to create double that number in the area.

Emma Batty, who is manager of the Sleaford Business Improvement District, said she hopes that the investment would lead to a boost for the town's local economy.

"The development of residential, office, retail, healthcare and community facilities is an innovative way of bringing the building back into economic use," she said.

The Grade II-listed site was originally used to malt barley for beer companies, but has stood empty since the 1990s when the poultry rearing that took place in the building ceased.
