Number of jobs created increases again

Published: Friday, 04 January 2008   Category: Graduate Job sector Reports

There were 46,400 jobs created in the UK during December 2007, according to the latest Adecco and Mandis Job Creation Index.

According to the index, there was a seven per cent increase from November, which is a much smaller increase than the month previously when it was 54 per cent.

Students looking for graduate retail jobs will be the most pleased by the results which revealed that the retail and wholesaling sector was the top performer as there was a 62 per cent increase in jobs being created.

Leisure and recreation had the second highest increase, with 1,700 jobs being created.

It had been suggested that the figures would not increase this month due to the uncertain economic climate but it appears the job market is stronger than was originally thought.

Mandis was established in 1994 and delivers business intelligence to companies. Its customers include the Sunday Times.
