North East Lincolnshire Council offers graduate jobs

Published: Tuesday, 14 April 2009   Category: Public sector

Those leaving university this summer have been given the chance for 12-week paid graduate work placements by the North East Lincolnshire Council.

Eight graduates will have the chance to gain work experience in marketing, communications, information technology, finance and engineering and potential employees must apply before Sunday (April 19th), according to the Grimsby Telegraph.

Successful applicants in the past have gone on to hold permanent positions within the council, such as Birmingham University geography graduate Rian Crombie, who took a placement in economic regeneration.

He told the newspaper: "My placement was very rewarding throughout and I was an integral part of the asset management team from day one. It provided me with an opportunity to get my foot in the door of local government and I gained many new skills."

The Independent recently reported that the government plans to provide £53 million to create 30,000 graduate jobs and internships as well as links between universities and local employers.
