Recent university leavers looking for graduate jobs in business management may be interested to hear the views of an economist from the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR).
Simon Kirby, a NIESR economist, said that the fact that the economy is emerging out of recession is good news but that it was worth bearing in mind that unemployment probably will still rise if the economy continues to misfire over the next couple of years.
He added: "It is undeniable that we have moved back into a period of economic expansion and it is good news - we just need to see those growth rates pick up before we can actually begin to make a dent into the unemployment stock, which we will probably rise by another 200,000 by 2011."
His comments come in the wake of research published by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and KPMG which showed the first increase in employment across the UK since winter 2008.
