Graduate engineer jobs may be needed in the south-west of England after a new recycling plant was announced for the Bristol area.

Around 125 jobs will be created in the new development which is set to be located in the Avonmouth area and to be operated by Sita, one of the country's leading recycling firms, reports regional newspaper the Evening Post.

Gareth Phillips, planning manager at Sita, told the news provider that the company hopes that the development will be good for the firm and the region.

"These are exciting plans that will put Avonmouth at the forefront of the very latest in resource management technology," he said.

"Producing a valuable commodity like diesel and increasing the capacity of the recycling facility will enable us to put waste to good use and save it from going to landfill."

Sita was established in 2008, following a merger between Suez Company and Gaz de France.
