A new scheme aimed at keeping university leavers in the north-east has been launched.
In news which might be of interest to those looking for graduate jobs in the area, regional development agency One NorthEast has teamed up with Northumbria University to help provider more opportunities for students.
Lesley Calder, head of skills and Europe at One NorthEast, said: "Northumbria University has established a reputation, both nationally and internationally, for excellence and expertise and if we can tap into that it will really endorse and complement the work were doing to improve our region."
The university and the regional development agency will examine a number ways to increase the number of graduate jobs on offer in the region.
Last week, the Whitley Bay News Guardian reported that Nexus, the Tyne and Wear passenger transport executive, has welcomed the first employees to join as part of its new graduate jobs scheme.
The next intake is planned for 2009.
