New firm aiming to boost marketing and PR graduate opportunities

Published: Tuesday, 14 September 2010   Category: Marketing

A new company has been set up in the north-east with the aiming of helping Britons into graduate jobs, it has been confirmed.

The PR Talent Train is a spin-off of Clothier Lacey & Co, a marketing and public relations company located at Newcastle Business Park, nebusiness.co.uk reports.

Managing director Philippa Clothier explained that the initiative is designed to benefit both graduates and businesses at time when many firms are not investing in their marketing and PR departments.

"While many companies have cut back on marketing activities, we continue to be deluged by applications from well-qualified graduates and aspiring undergraduates whose hopes of breaking into PR are being dashed because it is a sector badly hit by the recession," she told the news provider.

"At the same time, there are a number of people starting up their own businesses because they cannot find jobs. By focusing on these two strands, the PR Talent Train has been born."

Meanwhile, Financial Times columnist Robert Bruce claimed last week that accountancy firms should not adopt a 'them and us' attitude towards the 'big four' companies if they want to secure the best graduates.
