Applications for positions in the IT sector increased by around 17 per cent during the first two months of 2008, according to new research.
Conducted by IT recruitment agency CV Screen, the study compared the number of applications in the final three months of 2007 with those in the first two months of this year, and prove that many people still consider the new year the right time for a new job.
Commenting on the fact that the IT industry still looks healthy despite concerns about economic slowdown, CV Screen's Matthew Iveson commented: "We've not only noticed an increase in the number of applicants but also in the number of new vacancies being registered," which could be welcome news for graduates considering a career in the IT sector.
He went on to say that, with record numbers of IT jobs available in February, the industry as a whole remains "buoyant" despite the ramifications of the credit crunch.
