Model purchases fashion graduate's design

Published: Friday, 22 May 2009   Category:

A fashion icon has bought a jacket designed by a Dundee University graduate at its end-of-year show.

Erin O'Connor (pictured), who was in the city to enjoy the Dundee Degree Show, said that she wanted to be the first person to order the white leather jacket, designed by textiles graduate Hayley Scanlan.

The fashion model, who is also the chair of the British Fashion Council, will now email Ms Scanlan with her measurements so that a tailored version of the graduate's garment can be created.

She said: "I'm just absolutely blown away. Someone said to me right after the show finished that Erin wanted to try my jacket on, and I couldn't believe it. But next thing she was trying it on and saying she definitely wanted one. It's absolutely fantastic."

Fashion store Oasis recently helped out graduates with their job prospects by including the work of students from Nottingham Trent and New Bucks universities in a new range, now available on the high street.
