Membership scheme launched for SMEs

Published: Friday, 11 April 2008   Category: Life after graduation

The Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) is implementing a new online membership scheme this month to help companies with up to 250 employees to recruit, develop and retain graduates.

Research undertaken by AGR in 2006 indicated that a significant number of graduates choose to work for a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) after graduation, and AGR membership will help these organisations attract the best talent.

Carl Gilleard, chief executive of the AGR, said that the face of graduate recruitment has "changed significantly" in the 40 years that the association has been operating.

"Not all graduates take up positions with large multinational organisations when they leave university, and smaller companies also need to compete to recruit and retain the best talent," he noted.

He added that membership will allow SMEs to "tap into" the UK's network of professionals involved in graduate recruitment "from the comfort of their own desk".
