Liverpool Hope 'best university for graduate jobs success'
Thursday, 17 July 2008
Liverpool Hope University has one of the best employment rates in the country for former students, it has been revealed.
In news that could be of interest to people looking for graduate jobs in the north-west, the latest figures from the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), reveal that 97.3 per cent of the institution's former students found work or returned to education within a year of completing their studies, reports the Liverpool Daily Post.
According to the newspaper, the results make the university the highest ranking non-specialist college in England for graduate employment.
Speaking to the newspaper, John McCarthy, Hope's director of marketing and recruitment, said: "It is often the confidence they gain from the university experience or a passion for an activity or interest outside their degree subject which, in addition to their degree, makes [students] attractive to employers."
Earlier this month, the Observer reported comments by Rebecca Fielding, talent manager for HJ Heinz, who stated that extra-circular activities will give people a boost when they come to apply for graduate jobs.
