Liberal Democrats leader Nick Clegg used his New Year message to announce the imminent publication of his party's plans for a "green economy" which will create thousands of new jobs.
Mr Clegg said: "Soon we will be publishing new ideas to turn our economy away from its over dependence on the City of London to a new, green economy where hundreds of thousands of new jobs will be created as we rebuild our transport, energy and housing infrastructure."
Graduates hunting for jobs will be cheered by the news that Mr Clegg and his party plan to create thousands of new jobs given recent increases in graduate unemployment.
According to data from the Higher Education Careers Services Unit, graduate unemployment has increased by 44 per cent in 12 months.
With the general election set for the spring of 2010, all three main parties will be rushing to state their plans for the improvement of graduate employment figures.
The Labour Party currently has the holding majority of parliament with 349 seats, while the Liberal Democrat Party has 63.
