Keep your profile, AGR tells graduate employers
Monday, 13 July 2009
Employers need to keep up their offering of graduate jobs in order to maintain their profile for when the recession eases up, according to a leading industry body.
The Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) told Personnel Today that those employers who reduce their intake of university leavers in the current economic conditions will "become invisible" to those looking for jobs in the future.
Justin Spray, director at occupational psychologists Mendas, concurred with the organisation, saying that human resources (HR) firms in particular should look at keeping the number of graduates they employ at a good level.
He told the news provider: "Employers need to make the most of the market and bring people with fresh perspective and business nous into HR."
Donna Miller, from Enterprise Rent-a-Car, recently said in People Management that those companies with promote-from-within structures will suffer in the future if they cut back on graduate recruitment now.
