Published: Friday, 11 March 2011   Category: Retail

There are likely to be some graduate vacancies opening at the John Lewis Partnership, after it announced it was to create around 4,300 new jobs.

The national retailing partnership - which includes Waitrose and John Lewis outlets - announced the planned new job creation on Wednesday (March 9th) and said the new roles were to come about within the year.

Charlie Mayfield, chairman of John Lewis Partnership, said that the company had a great 2010, mainly through moving into the online market.

"We have made great progress this year in combining our John Lewis online operations with our shops to offer our customers greater choice and flexibility," he said.

The announcement of new jobs came the same week as the company revealed its pre-tax profits jumped 20 per cent.

People looking for graduate vacancies may wish to apply for positions with the John Lewis Partnership, as the firm's employees are well compensated. This year, the 76,500 staff will receive bonuses worth 18 per cent of their annual pay.
