Jobseekers 'should look online'

Published: Thursday, 28 February 2008   Category: Graduate Job sector Reports

The most effective way for a job hunter to search for vacancies is to go online, it has been claimed.

ClickAJob has stated that online searches are now superior to more traditional ways of finding work, unless the jobseeker is targeting a very specific job with a particular company.

"It's about time and choice," says ClickAJob chief executive Yngve Traberg, "You can't physically search thousands of jobs in the newspaper every day, that's just not practical. But a good job search engine can do it in seconds."

He added that online searching makes shortlisting your choices much easier too, as you can choose to have new positions emailed to you as soon as they become available.

Mr Traberg also points out the merit of applying for jobs online as, not only is it much quicker and easier, but it immediately demonstrates that you are "communications savvy and aware of the modern practices of business.

"Try and get that out of your morning newspaper," he concluded.
